(Moulton, AL), (August 16, 2024) – The Lawrence County Public Library (LCPL) regrets to announce the Hotspot Lending Program will be discontinued effective September 16, 2024. This decision comes as the Alabama Public Library Service (APLS) will no longer provide data plans for the devices, rendering them inoperable after this date. The final day to check-out a hotspot will be September 9, 2024.
Since its inception, the Hotspot Lending Program has played a vital role in expanding internet access to the Lawrence County community, especially for those without reliable connectivity at home. However, all good things must come to an end, and this valuable service is no exception.
"We're proud of the impact this program has had on our community," said Rex Bain, Executive Director. "As we approach the end of this initiative, we want to ensure that the program concludes responsibly and sustainably."

About LCPL
The Lawrence County Public Library is a public library serving the residents of Lawrence County, Alabama. Established in 1961 as the Moulton Library, it became the county library in the early 70s. In 1974, the current library opened its doors to the public near historic downtown Moulton and has since been providing invaluable resources and services to a population of over 30,000 residents.
The library offers various services such as circulation services, print/fax services, publicly accessible computers, programming for children, teens, and adults, as well as digital resources.
Funding for the library is provided by the Lawrence County Commission, the City of Moulton, and the State of Alabama.
